This documents represent the content found in C.R. Trick's wartime diary created during his time spent Jamaica and in the Far East during World War II - most of the time as a Prisoner of War in Japan. The events are described in order and are extracted from several diaries, which intersperse events as follows:
Small lined pad, pages held together with pieces of wire, records events from 5 Jun 40 (departure for garrison duties in Jamaica) until Oct 42
Three loose pages record events from 18 Dec 41 until 31 Dec 41. They are a copy of the notes found in the small lined pad. It's likely that Dad copied entries for this time period for clarity sometime after the war.
Next diary (small black book) records events from 18 Oct 42 to 4 Oct 43, then from 5 Sep 45 to 24 Oct 45
Last diary (larger black book with Japanese characters on cover) from 4 Oct 43 to 4 Sep 45
Some of the entries were difficult to decipher. Dad's handwriting was surprisingly legible, but over the years the pencil marks on the pages have faded. You will see many ?? and ... throughout the entries, which represent words and phrases that I couldn't make out.
